adidas Originals × Jack Lemkus

adidas Originals opened a creative studio inside Lemkus in Cape Town, built around workshops, mentorship and giving young creatives a place to work. RoomStudio brought Thingking in to develop and make the physical elements of the space. The material approach was deliberately simple: steel tube, mesh, exposed cable and familiar construction materials, finished with enough care to feel at home in the Originals world.

The studio needed to work properly day to day while still feeling distinctly adidas Originals. There were areas for product, surfaces to work around and a central feature overhead. Branding was kept within the objects and details rather than spread across the room.

The main piece was a suspended light above the central workbench. Powder-coated steel sections house programmable LEDs behind opal acrylic. The Trefoil is cut into the end caps and illuminated from inside. The suspension system stays visible. Steel mesh, cables and electrical wiring become part of the finished piece instead of disappearing into the ceiling. The studio also included display elements and mirrors developed around the same material approach, although the source material does not contain enough detail to describe those elements more specifically.
